Call for Nominations TNP Board of Directors

Candidate Requirements
  • Must be recognized as a Nurse Practitioner in Texas
  • Must be in good standing by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Must reside in Texas 
  • Must have been a dues paying, voting member of TNP for a minimum of three consecutive years
  • Served on a TNP Committee, Task Force, or Advisory Group within the past two years.


Director's Role

Board members are required to participate in regular conference calls, in-person attendance at meetings, attend the TNP Spring and Fall conferences, attend special conferences (NP State Summit, APRN Alliance Capitol Day and TNP's Health Policy Conference), and execute specific duties.

The Board of Directors shall govern the Association. The Board of Directors shall determine the policies and activities of the Association, advise and consent on the Association’s committees, task forces, and advisory boards, and exercise all such powers of the Association, and do all such lawful acts and things as are permitted by law, by the Articles of Incorporation or by TNP's Bylaws, unless otherwise expressly provided herein. 


Terms of Office

The members of the Board of Directors will be elected by voting members of the Association. The Officer positions are determined by the Board of Directors after the election. Elected Directors will begin their two (2) term after the installation ceremony held during the Annual Meeting, unless otherwise noted in the Bylaws or until such Director’s earlier death, resignation, retirement, disqualification, or removal from office. With the exception of the President, any director may be re-elected to serve another two-year term in the same position. 


Campaign Guidelines

Nomination forms must be completed, including all required documents by March 15. TNP's Nominating Committee will review all nominations, conduct interviews, and prepare the slate for election by the TNP members. There are four (4) open positions and the Nominating Committee will prepare a slate of candidates not to exceed twelve (12) individuals. The election ballot, which will contain the candidates' bios, photos, and campaign messages, will be emailed to all voting members of TNP.  Each voting member will be allowed to cast votes for the number of board vacancies. The deadline for accepting votes will be May 15.
