Title: Defending Your License: Strategies for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)
Overview: The Board of Nursing’s (BON) view is that licensure is a privilege, not a right. What many advanced practice registered nurses fail to understand is that the BON is tasked to protect the public, not the nurse. The presentation will focus on providing strategies for advanced practice registered nurses to defend their professional license. A general overview of the way advanced practice registered nurses can become involved in the legal system will be expanded to discuss the disciplinary process, role of advanced practice registered nurse boards and duties, responsibilities and rights of advanced practice registered nurses in the process.
Understand the role and authority of State Boards of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and regulatory agencies.
Describe the license discipline process and potential outcomes.
A discussion of possible outcomes of the disciplinary process, along with tips to proactively protect your license, will end the program.
