Thousands of behavioral health and criminal justice programs in the US and around the world offer ear acupuncture using the NADA protocol (acudetox) to support the treatment and recovery process. NADA strives to make acudetox based, barrier-free addiction and mental health treatment accessible in all communities and to ensure its integration with other treatment modalities. (www.acudetox.com)

Behavioral health treatment professionals, Western medical and Oriental medical practitioners may learn the NADA protocol in 70 hours, divided into didactic and clinical experiences. This three-day training provides a mixture of both. To complete the process, trainees will do additional homework assignments, attend 12-step meetings, and complete supervised acudetox treatments. Texas law allows for the following licensed professionals to cross-trains a Certified Acu Detox Specialists: Social Workers, Nurses, Counselors (LCDCs, LPCs), and psychologists. Space is limited. Texas law limits those practitioners to using the five ear point protocol specifically for addiction.
