Providing educational opportunities for TNP members and NPs throughout Texas is an important part of TNP's mission. In addition to our annual Primary Care and Pharmacology Conference and our annual Fall Conference, TNP provides additional opportunities throughout the year. Please check the calendar events for the most up-to-date listing.
TNP 29th Annual TNP Conference
Thank you for attending the TNP 29th Annual Conference. Please take a few minutes to complete the evaluations for the sessions you attended by clicking here
In an effort to be “green” all handout materials are being provided on the TNP website. To obtain handouts for your sessions, simply click on the title of the session you plan to attend. If a session is not listed on the website either the speaker did not provide any handouts or they will be providing them during the session. Please note that TNP will not be providing hard copies of these materials. Therefore, if you wish to have copies of these materials during the session, please print and bring them with you to the conference. Also, WIFI will not be available in the meeting rooms, so if you plan to access handouts electronically during the session, please download them to your device before entering the meeting room.
The conference brochure provides a complete overview of the 29th Annual TNP Conference program.

CE Requirements for the Texas Board of Nursing
20 hours of Continuing Education is required ever two years for relicensure. For additional information, please go to the Texas Board of Nursing.
Controlled Substances CE
Required for APRNs with prescriptive authority who order/prescribe controlled substances for every licensure cycle after January 1, 2015. Those who renew this year do not need this CE. A total of three hours is required. So for example, if an APRN with prescriptive authority and a practice that includes ordering and prescribing controlled substances renews his/her license in November 2015, the CE will be required for the first time in the renewal cycle beginning December 1, 2015 and ending November 30, 2017. If the licensure cycle began prior to 1/1/2015, the APRN will not need to show these hours.
Required for APRNs who practice in gerontology, whose practice includes care of elders, or whose practice could reasonably be expected to include care of elders. This is a two hour requirement and will be required in every licensure cycle after January 1, 2014. So for example, an FNP who renews in October 2014 will not have to show the gerontology hours until after that renewal. The period during which the gerontology hours must be completed would begin on November 1, 2014 and end on October 31, 2016.
This is required for all nurses, including APRNs. This is a two hour combined requirement (it does not have to be divided one hour of each) that will be required in every third licensure cycle beginning January 1, 2014. So if the APRN renewed in April 2014, the requirement must be fulfilled between May 1, 2014 and April 30, 2020 and every third licensure cycle from the date the APRN completes the course.
The gero and jurisprudence/ethics CE requirements are completed as part of the 20 contact hours every two years for relicensure. Jurisprudence/ethics must be approved for nursing CE, not CME. Gero and the controlled substances CEs can be either continuing nursing education or CME category 1.
